Mini Goldendoodle Breed Information

Description: A Goldendoodle Mini is the offspring of a purebred Poodle and a Golden Retriever, giving them the best of both worlds–traits of two of the most popular dog breeds. They are a newer breed of dog, but they are quickly gaining popularity due to their ease with nearly every family and their loving demeanor.  Their beautiful silky, wavy coats frame their faces perfectly and they often appear to have a playful smile hidden beneath the fur. They are an affectionate breed who love to show their loyalty to their owners.
Other Names: Miniature Goldendoodle, Groodle, Mini Goldenpoo
Height: 15-19 inches
Weight: 15-35 pounds
Colors: Varies
Coat: Soft, silky, curly
Hypoallergenic: Yes

Grooming: As they shed very little and don’t require regular bathing, the Goldendoodle’s grooming needs are minimal.  To keep their coats silky and soft, bathe them only if they get dirty or smelly. Brush them a few times a week to keep their coat from tangling.  Trim those nails monthly to keep them healthy, clean those teeth regularly and check the ears often.

Temperament: loving, affectionate, loyal, friendly

Kid friendly: The Goldendoodle Mini makes a great addition to any family large or small, young or old, as they are happy to share their limitless love with anyone they meet.  Of course, care should always be taken with very small children who can frighten or excite your dog.

With Pets: They get along well with other pets.

Guard-dog: Nah.  These loving dogs can show affection even to strangers, so don’t expect them to attack with anything more than kisses!

Training/Learning: The Goldendoodle Mini is a dog that loves to learn and with the right teacher, can be a quick learner.  They are intelligent and very teachable.

Special Needs: Because they just love their owners so much, the Goldendoodle Mini doesn’t like to be separated from you for too long.  Consider keeping your dog in a crate or with others if you are going to be gone long so that they feel safe and secure in your absence.  Socialization is important to a Goldendoodle Mini, and you should give them plenty of time to play with people and dogs regularly so that they learn to get along well with others.

Exercise/Activity: Average.  The Goldendoodle Mini needs daily exercise, but would be equally happy with a quick walk around the block or a game of fetch in the backyard.

Living Environment: Great in any size home. Goldendoodle Mini makes a nice apartment dog as their smaller size means that they don’t take up too much space.

Health Issues: Due to their mixed breed, you might see health issues common in both Poodles and Golden Retrievers.  These could include: eye problems, arthritis, hip dysplasia, thyroid issues, bone and joint issues

Life Span: 10-15 years
