History: History of the Chowsky breed, crossbreeding the Chow-Chow and the Siberian Husky, can only be traced back to the last 20 years. It is believed that this crossbreed originated in North America but that has not been proven. While the breed is in its infancy, the Chowsky history can be told through the lens of the parent breeds. The Chow Chow is an ancient dog breed from the Orient, with Samoyed and the Tibetan Spaniel as its parent breeds. The breed’s functions were herding, hunting and protecting. The Siberian Husky originated from Chukchi people of the Chukchi Peninsula in eastern Siberia. They were brought to Nome, Alaska, in 1908 as sled racing dogs.
